Under Your Scars: Excerpt!

It’s a rare day that I do not have a book tour scheduled with Maia at Silver Dagger BookTours or with Lily at Gay Book Promotions, so I thought I’d give everyone an update on my own writing and upcoming releases.

It’s official: Under Your Scars is at the proofing department at eXtasy Books. Amber, my editor for this one, finalized the edits on January 5, and I am now waiting for Proofer Bri and EIC Jay to get back to me with the galley, etc. I’m so excited about it! This may be my third book, but it is still a thrill to go through the process, even if it’s a lot of work. Under Your Scars needed more editing than Away to Me did at submission time, but it’s still a solid story, and so far, my betas and critique readers have loved it.

I don’t have the cover yet, but when it arrives, my long-time friend and fellow eXtasy Books author Maggie Blackbird will be hosting the cover reveal, as well as anyone else who wants to participate in the celebration. (Our Art Department is up to their eyeballs in cover art right now, so many great and talented people are having books released in the next few months!) I’ll drop an alert on Twitter or Facebook when I get the cover (links are in my links area!). No worries!

In the meantime, enjoy something I rarely show – excerpts from an unpublished book. Yes, this one is in the middle of being published but I am still shy about sharing this kind of thing. I’m doing my best to get over it though. Having a great team with me, like my fellow authors, and everyone else at eXtasy Books and Devine Destinies is a huge help in that department.

Under Your Scars
Book 2 of the Tri-Town Series

Tagline: You can run from your past, but it will catch up to you eventually.

Alexis has that special something about her that Seth can’t fathom. His friend Mirabelle’s new employee is even prettier than the merchandise she sells. Too bad she’s distantly polite when he tries talking to her.
Alexis is attracted to Seth, but she’s in hiding from her past and her mistakes. Getting involved with the one person she's attracted to could blow her cover.
Forced to work together, their libidos ignite. Alexis is terrified to open up and give into her feelings for Seth. If he remembers that night, five years ago, he’ll never speak to her again.
It becomes a question of whether Seth will expose her and force her to keep running, or if he'll help her face her past.

Here’s a sneak peek from Chapter Four.

Seth was glad to see Alexis at the Rogers’ middle of summer barbecue that night. He was thinking of saying hi to her when Mallory jumped on him. His youngest godchild was small and made up for it with her enthusiasm and sunny temperament. He listened to her rattle on about summer camp, while he kept glancing in Alexis’s direction every few minutes.
Sympathy rose as he saw how uncomfortable she seemed in the crowd. She was obviously out of her element and looked like she was trying to make an escape. When Mallory ran off to join her friends and siblings in the pool, he made his move. He sauntered over to her side and gave her a bright grin. “Hey, Alexis. Having fun?” He could barely see her glance up at him through her dark lenses as she shrugged. “I take it that’s a no.”
“How do you know if I’m not having any fun?” she muttered with a dirty look.
He admired her soft pink blouse, faded, skinny jeans with holes in the knees, and how her ponytail curled around her neck, down between her delectable breasts. “At the exhibition, you were talking non-stop with all of us, and we couldn’t keep up with you half the time. It was the same way when we were playing pool at the bar last week, or when we were getting things done up for the sign at the store. Tonight, you look like a deer caught in headlights.”
Her jaw clicked, and she sighed. “Leave it to you to notice that.”
“You’re forgetting who you’re talking to.” He tossed in one of his brightest smiles for emphasis.
Alexis stared up at him over the top of her sunglasses. “I haven’t.”
Despite being surrounded by what felt like half the town, it was quiet in the shade of the big oak tree that dominated the north side of the Rogers’ backyard, a private oasis. Seth was grateful no one was paying attention to them, especially Mirabelle. She would get the wrong idea.
I like Alexis a lot. She’s a great friend, lots of fun, and really sweet. Her being so pretty is icing on the cake. What straight man doesn’t like being with a beauty like her, even if it’s only in friendship? A picture of his icy ex-wife rose in his mind. I’m not ready to start dating yet or even have a friend with benefits. Sex with Alexis may be hotter than the sun, but Jesus, I’d rather not fuck things up with her. I’d rather keep her a mile away than ruin what we have now.
Alexis groaned. “I thought this was only going to be a family thing. If I had known it was going to be the entire town, I would have told Mirrie to shove the invite up her ass.”
The mental picture of Mirabelle doing that made Seth laugh. “She’s pulled off the same stunt on me a few times. I’d get here, thinking it was just her, Blaine and the kids, and I’d see people here I don’t know and don’t care to meet. She thinks you’re lonely.”
Alexis sniffed primly. “I have enough friends, thank you.”
“How many single men did she force you to meet today?”
She crossed her arms across her chest and growled.
Seth cringed in sympathy. “I see a lot of the single women she’s tried to hook me up with, too, so it’s not just you in her sights tonight.” Although he was wearing looser jeans and a black t-shirt emblazed with a country music band on it, he was still getting admiring looks. I wish they’d screw off. I hate desperate women. They always think you should marry them after the first date.
Alexis gave him a sad smile. “You, too, huh?”
“Yup.” He rolled his eyes and sighed.
“Shit. Next time, I should bring a date, so she buggers off and won’t do this to me again,” she muttered.
He held out his hand. “Deal.”
Her head whipped around and stared at him over the top of her sunglasses. Seth felt an odd feeling in his gut. Bile started rising in his throat.
“Deal?”
Thankfully, Alexis’s question drove away the nausea. He shook it off and focused on her. “Yeah, as in we come here and leave here together the next time Mirrie drags us to one of her parties,” he said conspiratorially.
Her eyebrows shot up for a second, and the action made her spectacles slide down the bridge of her nose a little. Her nose wrinkled, which made Seth smile inwardly. Damn, she is too cute for words. Too bad I’m not looking for a girlfriend. She’ll be a perfect one for some lucky guy. “It may make it easier to avoid her setting us up with people we’re not compatible with,” he reminded her.
Alexis nodded slowly. “I’d rather hang out with you because you know me and don’t care if I’m quiet or not.” With a soft smile, she stared up at him over her glasses. “Thank you, Seth,” she murmured.
As his gaze locked with hers, the image from his recurring dream overlaid it, and a weird sweat broke out on his forehead. He shivered in the humidity, and his heart started racing. He lifted a trembling hand to his cheek as he closed his eyes and tried to shake it off. All he could see on the canvas of his eyelids was the girl in the corner of the gray room, the sunlight hitting her sneakers, with the smell of disinfectant burning his nostrils. He swallowed hard several times, hoping the nausea would disappear. Vertigo hit him like an eighteen-wheeler, and he almost fell face-first into the grass beside the massive oak tree they were standing alongside.
Someone said his name from a distance. His heart beat faster, and he felt like he was going to throw up. Don’t let me puke on her shoes! I’ll never live it down, and she’ll stop talking to me, for good reason.
A soft touch on his arm and a light flowery scent in his nostrils helped bring back some of his equilibrium. He was still sweaty, his hands still shook, but his heart rate dropped noticeably, the queasiness started lifting, and his breathing evened out.
“Seth?” He recognized concern in Alexis’s voice, closer this time, and he swallowed hard to hold back the remaining nausea. He cleared his throat and opened his eyes marginally. Her perfume wafted around him again as a gentle hand touched his forehead. “Were you out in the heat too much again? You’re sweaty, and you’re white as a sheet.”
“Maybe,” he mumbled in an effort to cover up the truth. Alexis would think he was insane if she knew about his recurring dream and how his subconscious was putting her in it.
“Mirrie’s going to have a fit if you keep standing there and weaving like a tree in a hurricane. I’ll take you inside, where it’s cool, and she won’t see you.” She put her free hand on his arm, and the rest of the odd sensations went away.
He shook his head. “I’m okay now. It’s gone.”
Over her glasses, she peered up at him with concern. There was a softness in her dark eyes that he had never seen before, and it made him feel woozy again. Oh shit. Please, don’t let me faint on her. Alexis will not like it, and Mirrie will send me to the ER for observation. He gave Alexis a reassuring smile, and without thinking, he put his hand on her hip. Jokingly, he leaned forward, so his forehead touched hers and winked at her.
“What are you doing?” Her nose wrinkled, and there was a confused note in her voice.
“I’m making sure you can see me. I know how blind you are without the glasses. Since you keep staring at me over the top of them, I thought I’d give you a better view.” He grinned at her, and the last remnants of the sickening feelings went away. “I’m fine.”
She whacked him on the arm and sighed. “Yeah, if you’re picking on me about my eyesight, you’re fine.”
“Of course, having a pretty girl like you looking out for me helped a lot,” he added and wagged his eyebrows at her.
He felt a hard shove on his shoulders and held firm.
“Go take a swim, Seth. It’ll help more than I will.” She tried pulling out of his embrace and gave him another shove.
He held her close, backed up another step, saw grass under his feet, and stopped. “I’d rather lean on you for a bit,” he shot back and slid an arm around her waist. One more step back had concrete under his boots.
“God, you’re an ass,” she muttered and put her hands on his chest.
He prepared for the inevitable and slid his other arm around her. “Ass or not, at least I’m not blind.”
Just as she shoved him, he took three steps backward and held on to Alexis tightly.
Alexis shrieked in surprise, and Seth cackled as they fell into the pool together.

As for Tri-Town 3, I hope to start that later this year, or early next year. I am working on another sort of standalone novel at the moment, which I hope to have finished and submitted by the end of this year. Things are still on hold until after Under Your Scars is on preorder. I’m too focused on getting that ready to concentrate on much else right now.

Thanks for dropping by, and checking out the excerpt. I hope you enjoyed it.

I leave you with the new video for “Hold on to Memories” by Disturbed. The official video was released just this week, and I think it’s a fitting one for the song. It’s beautiful. Enjoy!

NEW RELEASE: CULT by Seelie Kay (Book 3 of the Feisty Lawyers Series)

Good morning everyone! Today, I'm hosting my dear friend and fellow eXtasy Books author, Seelie Kay. The third book of her Feisty Lawyers Series, CULT, was released by eXtasy Books today. It looks like it's going to be a great read, so get your copy NOW!

* * * *

Cult by Seelie Kay

Release Date: May 17, 2019
Publisher: Extasy Books
Romantic Suspense, three flames
An Interview with Seelie Kay:

Q.  Why do you write romance?

Q.  Do you prefer a certain type of romantic hero?

I adore smart, dashing gentlemen who aren’t afraid to live on the edge. They can be a bad boy, a billionaire, a prince, or a secret agent. That hint of danger just hooks me! However, I also love strong, independent women who aren’t afraid to fight for what they want, even love.

Q.  Why did you write “Cult?”

For two reasons. First, I have done extensive research on a religious cult a family member was involved in many years ago. There is specific type of personality that succeeds as a cult leader. They offer something others aren’t finding in their real life or through mainstream religion. Their grip on others is daunting. In many instances, however, a cult leader is nothing more than a con man with a great sales pitch. I wanted to explore that. Second, when I was in college, I had friends who got involved in cults. They gave up all of their worldly goods and submitted blindly to one man. And once in, they couldn’t get out. Fortunately, some did finally escape, but they were forever changed.

As I was doing my research, I realized that many cults treat their members as slaves, a form of human trafficking. Their free will has been taken away. Someone else does their thinking for them. As long as they submit and obey, they receive the basics—food and shelter. However, the consequences of nonconformance can be dire--physical abuse, incarceration, even death. It was not a story I could ignore.

Q.   How does your former profession as a lawyer impact your writing?

My friends say I am obsessed with justice and I guess that’s true. After 30 years, the law and the legal world are so firmly embedded in my brain that I can’t flush them out. That has become the lens through which I view the world and that naturally guides my characters and plots. Injustice infuriates me, but it also leads me to great stories!

Blurb:
It’s supposed to be a simple assignment. A quick trip to a South American country for an “in and out” fact-finding mission. Unfortunately, the cult has other ideas.

When college students begin disappearing from American campuses, a notorious cult, God’s Delight, is the primary suspect. God’s Delight has been hosting shows featuring sex, drugs, and rock and roll around the country, and young people are flocking to them.

Among the missing is the President’s goddaughter, and he wants answers. When he asks Agent Cade Matthews, a member of a secret covert organization, to find her, the mission appears fairly straightforward. Find the God’s Delight compound, determine whether a welfare check on American cult members is warranted, and get out. Simple. Clean. Easy.

Cade sends newly-married Agents Dianna Murphy and Anders Mark to the University of Wisconsin to follow the trail to God’s Delight, but when they wind up in Bolivia, things go sideways. Suddenly, what appeared to be nothing more than a simple in-and-out could cost Dianna her life. When an Agency extraction is ordered, chaos erupts, and the question becomes, will anyone survive?

Excerpt:
“But everyone can leave when they want, right?”
Tillie cocked her eyebrow, clearly amused. “Of course. But why would they? This is paradise.”
“It is indeed, darling Miranda,” drawled a deep sultry voice. A tall, well-built man dressed in a white cossack, a thick wooden cross draped around his neck, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her cheek. His loose, long blonde hair framed a tan, handsome face with a strong nose and a wicked, full-lipped grin. He turned his piercing blue eyes toward Dianna and smiled. “Hello,” he said.
The man studied her, his expression predatory.
Dianna shifted uncomfortably. So, Tillie is using another name. Meaning she’s undercover. Noted. Dianna stuck out her hand and said. “Hi, I’m Bennie. I’m one of the students from Wisconsin working over at the orphanage. You were kind enough to allow us to stay here.”
The man took her hand and stroked it, his expression suddenly thoughtful. “Tell me, Bennie from Wisconsin, what do you think of my paradise?” His hand moved to her lower arm.
Dianna flushed. My paradise? Is this Reverend John? “It’s beautiful. Peaceful. But hot. And humid. Really humid.” She gazed up into the man’s eyes, somewhat stunned at the lust she found there. My God, he looks like he wants to devour me. Dianna quickly looked away.
The man chuckled. “You get used to it. But we keep the air-conditioning on in the dormitories for the newbies and limit their time in the sun. And of course, we all take a siesta during the hottest part of the day if we need one.” He released her arm. “We worship at day’s end when the air begins to cool. Otherwise, things get a little…sweaty.” He leaned down and kissed her on the cheek, gently tugging her hair. Then he walked away. Dianna’s gaze did not leave him as children followed him, playfully competing for his attention. Just like Jesus.

Spotlight: Kate Zarrelli!

Today, I’m featuring fellow author, Kate Zarrelli, whose novel, Tuscan Enchantment, was released via Devine Destinies on March 15, 2019!

VJ: Hello Kate, welcome to my blog! Congrats on the new release!

What was your inspiration for writing Tuscan Enchantment?

Kate: Thank you for inviting me! The inspiration came from the area of northern Tuscany called the Lunigiana, the foothills of the Apuan Alps, bordering the Tyrrhenian Sea. A people older than the Etruscans have left us traces of their presence in the form of menhirs, and more recently, this area was the scene of some of the worst massacres in modern history, during WWII. The most important noble family of the area, the Malaspina, built many castles and villas here. The explorer Alessandro Malaspina is the original of Gianluca Quattromani, whose archive is the reason for my heroine to go to the area – where she falls in love with his descendant.

VJ: How long did it take you to write this story?

Kate: I don’t think I can remember. I wrote the first version of the story more than 20 years ago, but it was a very rookie production and I didn’t manage to publish then, unsurprisingly. My husband found the disk last year, got it converted without telling me, and I had another look…I thought the story really had potential though it needed some rewriting. And the DD editors are fantastic in helping polish and perfect.

VJ: You’ve written stories in other genres. Can you tell us about them?

Kate: Under my own name Katherine Mezzacappa, I’ve published traditional, heart-warming stories in a magazine called Ireland’s Own, published in Wexford (I also publish some non-fiction with them on Irish matters). That was the magazine that gave the late, great Maeve Binchy her fiction break. I’ve also published historical literary erotica with Erotic Review Magazine in London (this is an e-zine so these can be found on-line, free, as can other historical stories in Copperfield Review and Henshaw Press). I have also tried my hand with some paranormal fiction, published by Severance Publications. As Katie Hutton, I have a two-book deal (first book due out June 2020) with Bonnier Zaffre for historical fiction.

VJ: You currently live in Italy. How does living in such an amazing nation influence your work?

Kate: Oddly enough, it does and it doesn’t. Because I write a lot of historical fiction, sometimes being in a place means I get too tangled up with what that place feels like now. But I am revising a historical novel set in Florence (a couple of hours from here) and Venice (a good bit further) where access to museums and historic buildings has been crucial.

VJ: Can we readers expect to see more from you at Devine Destinies?

Kate: I’m working on The Casanova Papers. This will be a contemporary novel set in Venice, in which a couple studying the life of Casanova relive his exploits, but only with each other – by wearing masks. Casanova was a great lover, but pretty rubbish at relationships, and died alone, in a chair, far from home. My couple never want to lose the excitement of that first encounter, but don’t want anyone else…

Thank you so much for dropping by. It’s been a lot of fun!

Excerpt from Tuscan Enchantment:

She caught sight of him, lithe as an eel, gliding along under the surface of the water and she felt herself flame with longing for him. From what she could see as he sped through the water he was wearing just a pair of white trunks, which offset his bronzed flesh. Then he flipped over onto his back and she saw with surprise and shock not unmixed with pleasure that he was wearing nothing at all. Instinct made her look away just as he realised she was there. He turned over again and swam with an easy stroke towards her.

"Antonia! I didn't mean to startle you. It's just a habit I've got into up here on my own."
He stood in the water at the side of the pool, the lower half of his body concealed, the water dripping from his raven black hair and running in rivulets down his chest.

"I thought you'd be ages yet - women so often are," he said.

"Not this one!" she retorted, wishing he had not reminded her of his experience of other women, bust she did not have it in her heart to be angry for long. He did seem sincere in his explanation, and after all, she was a guest here.

"Please avert your eyes, and I'll make myself decent," he instructed her.

Antonia half wanted to say it's too late now and throw caution to the winds, but instead she did as she was told. She heard the slap of his wet feet along the side of the pool as he went to get his trunks from over a chair, and then his voice calling, "All right, it's safe to look now. The lion is muzzled!"

He approached her, smiling, and once more Antonia felt as overwhelmed by his beauty as she had been when they had first met. Now she could observe him more closely than ever, the broadness of his muscular shoulders, the taut hardness of his stomach, the strong sinews of his muscled, hairy legs. His hard work under Alessio's guidance had honed his body until it was even more desirable than she had remembered it in the moonlight. Yet there was something naturally proportioned about his muscles--he looked that good because he worked hard, not because he worked out.

"Antonia," he exclaimed, shattering her thoughts, "you're looking at me as if you've never seen a man before!"

"Well, that is, I haven't...well not exactly... I don't mean..." she stuttered in embarrassment, aware she had gone very red.

Lorenzo looked at her with a serious expression now, as understanding slowly dawned on him. Then to her surprise it was his turn to flush gently, and when he spoke it was with a voice low and trembling with emotion and desire.

"Ah, Antonia, what a rare prize you are!" Then he turned abruptly away from her and slid back into the water.

"Well, aren't you coming in, then?" he asked, his head bobbing up again, sleek and gleaming as an otter's.

STRICKEN: Two Years Later! (Plus an Announcement!)

Happy 2nd Birthday, STRICKEN!!

STRICKEN came out exactly two years ago today... It's so hard to believe! Two years old. Wow. There are days that it still hasn't sunk in that I'm a published author!

I'd like to thank everyone at eXtasy Books for giving me a chance and for being so amazing all around. Love to all!!

STRICKEN: Love deserves a second chance.

The Romance Studios St. Patrick's Day Party

Holy cow, what an amazing weekend! The party at The Romance Studio was a blast! I had so much fun, even if I was having difficulty coming up with posts about only one book without giving away too much of the story. I managed to get through it!

I am not doing another party like that one until I have at least one more book out - which I hope to correct before the end of this year, if I can get "Something About Alexis" cleaned up to spec!

((Speaking of other books - works in progress - I have an announcement regarding my first series... More on that later!!))

I shared multiple excerpts, a few of my favorite quotes from the story, the character interview with Ewan that Maggie asked me to do for her blog (see it HERE!), and character bios for Ewan and Marti.

I am exhausted, but it was worth it! People loved the excerpts, and I loved reading the bits from other people's works. eXtasy Books was well represented this year - the five of us who participated got a lot of interactions with fans, and we all had a lot of fun.

Contest for my giveaways ends at midnight Pacific Time - 3 a.m. Eastern. I'm giving away 2 copies of Stricken (via eXtasy Books' website), and a GC for eXtasy Books/Devine Destinies.

Upcoming Blog Tours

I have three tours visiting my blog next week - two on the 25th, and one on the 28th. All of the stories showcased look amazing! I'm slowly booking more and more tours, and more guest spots for my fellow eXtasy Books/Devine Destinies authors, so if any author out there wants to do a guest spot, contact me now to get your name in ASAP. My contact information is in the links area to the left of my blog entries.

I've also signed up to be a spot for Maggie Blackbird's upcoming blog tour for her second novel, "Redeemed", Book 2 of the Matawapit Family series. Her tour doesn't start until April 29, so it will be a while before you see it on my blog. Watch for it!

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT...

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I want everyone to know about the current manuscript draft, the one I've been working on for a while. I've dubbed it "Book 2" of "My First Series"... I've mentioned it a few times on here and in Facebook - which is tied to my Twitter.

It's far from finished, and it's on the back burner until "Something About Alexis" is sent off, but I have been writing a plot bunny given to me by my best friend/Peapod, Heather a couple of years ago. She said something off the cuff, and BAM! A new plot bunny hopped through the brain.

So...........................................................................

I am currently in the middle of writing a companion/sequel to Stricken.

You read that right.

The MSIP is tied to Stricken.

The mains in it are *not* Ewan and Marti for the record. Nor is it a rewrite of anything I wrote in the past. This is a new couple, with a few *huge* conflicts, and a load of new plot twists that not even I saw coming. I want a fresh, new story with new characters, new conflicts and new ideas done *my* way and to my publisher's ultra high standards.

(((Well, you do meet the leading man of this one for a few minutes in Stricken... I'm not ready to say *who* it is yet, so please do not ask me anything about the story unless you're in the select few people who do know...)))

I know, Stricken was supposed to be a standalone, or it was when I signed the contract with eXtasy Books two years ago. The thing is, it ended in a way that it could be a standalone story, or be the launching point for another one about another family member.

Once Heather said the offhand remark, it was "GAME OVER" and I was writing down ideas for the story. The rest is history.

I am only partway through Chapter Four, but the idea is solid, the character development is coming along nicely, and I already know how I'm going to end it.

I just have to sit down, and keep plugging away at it until Draft One is finished. It does have a name, as does the series, but I'm not ready to reveal either of those yet. Only those most trusted to me have that knowledge. Tee hee!

To answer the next question, YES, I am plotting a Book 3. However, I do not know if it will come to pass or Stricken and Book 2 will be a duology or not. I'll have to see how things go with Book 2, and of course "Something About Alexis", along with the rest of the works I'm plotting.

So yeah. That's the big secret. It feels odd announcing something like this so soon, when its first draft isn't even finished yet, but I'm doing my best to open up and be more like my fellow eXtasy Books authors. They are all amazing, talented people, and a lot of them are so open about what they're working on.

Telling all of you out there that I'm working on a sequel/companion for Stricken is a huge step for me. Normally I like to keep stuff like this to myself, due to criticism I've had in the past, which made me clam up and toss the work - which was exactly what the person doing it was hoping for.

No more. If people do not like my work, that's fine with me. Some people do not like it out of spite, and that only shows what kind of a person they are. I'm going to keep going and write until my fingers turn blue, and keep going.

Anyway...................................................................

It's been a long, exciting day for me.... I hope everyone had a great weekend. Thanks again to all who popped over to the TRS St. Patrick's Day party, and interacted with all of us authors.

I leave you with the song that inspired me to name my first novel.... STRICKEN by Disturbed! Enjoy!

HAPPY SECOND BIRTHDAY STRICKEN!!!

St. Patrick's Day Party at the Romance Studio - Happening NOW! (And other fun stuff!)

I never thought that doing an online party with authors from all over would be so much fun!

The St. Patrick's Day Party is going strong over at The Romance Studio. There are so many talented authors participating this year. I'm reading excerpts from not just my fellow eXtasy Books authors, but others as well. Some of these amazing people have at least 10 books out... I'm one of the few showcasing only their debut novel.

It feels weird being included in this wonderful group. I keep thinking I'm not worthy of doing this, yet people are starting to respond and say hello to me. Normally I'm the one promoting others, so yes, this is a bit odd for me to do.

I am loving it every time someone drops by and comments on one of my posts, or seeing someone post on someone else's share. Everyone is so nice!

I want to thank the Romance Studio for hosting such wonderful events like this. It's one amazing experience, and I'm so glad I signed up to be one of the featured authors this year. I'm gaining a lot of experience just in the first two days of it, and I've met some amazing people.

eXtasy Books authors who are participating this year are: D.S. Dehel, Curtis A. Cooper, Taryn Jameson (who co-writes with Gabriella Bradley), and my longtime friend, Maggie Blackbird. eXtasy Books is also participating, and they've been featuring some of the newer releases from their most popular authors - from Viola Grace to Diana Waters, and down the line.

I've included a few excerpts from Stricken - two or three new ones that are not featured on the eXtasy Books website or my own - and the most recent post was a character interview I did for Maggie Blackbird's blog a while back.

I already know what I'll be sharing tomorrow and Sunday... I'm giving away a gift card for eXtasy Books/Devine Destinies, and 2 copies of Stricken, so if you want to put your name in for either, get over there and say hello!

I worked on designing some banners during the great Facebook Outage of 2019, and had some fun in Twitter.

This sort of happened while I was carrying on with a few friends in Twitter on Wednesday night....

Yes, that is the REAL William Shatner - Captain Kirk himself - retweeting my reply to one of his tweets. I wonder how long he's waited to razz someone from Nova Scotia about Oak Island.

The only way it would have been more epic is if it had been Mark Hamill. LOL

A long running joke has now become my signature... I was getting teased about being such a purple freak, and how much I love purple roses, especially by my pals at eXtasy Books. So, I've decided that my signature is purple roses. It really suits me, or I think it does.

Here's a couple of the banners I made for the St. Patrick's Day Party, my pages, and my Facebook Group (Romancing the Maritimes):

My author tagline.

New banner for my Facebook Group.

Some of my favorite sights along the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

Excerpt from Chapter 8 of STRICKEN.

Banner for my Facebook Page and Profile.

Introductory banner for the TRS party.

I am also looking into making some book trailer videos and getting subscriptions to some stock photo sites so I can do some amazing book trailers, and make some gorgeous and unique banners for my work... And maybe help others with theirs too.

Thank you to everyone who has signed up for my newsletter! That is so sweet of all of you. I hope to have Volume One out later this year, when I have big news to share.

Don't forget to keep checking the Romance Studios' Party Website to see what kind of amazing excerpts are showcased by some uber talented authors!

Have a lovely weekend everyone... I leave you with "Sometimes She Cries" by Warrant. Enjoy!

STRICKEN - Get it on Amazon!

Mark this on your calendars everyone:

STRICKEN will be released on Amazons around the world on SUNDAY MARCH 26, 2017! It is now up for preorder on their sites.

This is it on the CANADIAN Amazon.

The AMERICAN Amazon.

I know it's available in the United Kingdom and Australia as well, but I haven't checked more than those four. If it's not available on your nation's Amazon, it IS up for free international delivery on the Canadian site. The price listed is in our dollar, of course.

If you preorder now, it will show up in your Kindle, Kindle app, or Kindle compatible app tomorrow morning. Or you can order it whenever you like.

Thank you eXtasy Books, and everyone I've met there, for giving me this chance.

Excerpt available on www.vjallison.com!

Ewan Campbell once thought he had it all – he was a rising star in the real estate field, popular with his peers, and engaged to his employer’s cousin, the shy and quiet little Marti Marlowe.

A heartbeat later, he was alone – shattered, confused and suicidal. Why had Marti walked away from him?

Years later, in another place, and a new chapter of Ewan’s life, fate brings them face to face again.

They start building a friendship, but Ewan wants more. He wants Marti as his wife, and she seems to prefer their current status as friends.

Can he convince her that taking another chance at their failed future will be the start of the best part of their lives?

Quick update:

I'm still writing on the new manuscript in progress. So far, it's coming along nicely. I'm almost finished chapter six, and have surpassed the 20K mark. My only complaint is that I'm not getting as much writing time as I'd like - Husband is only working one day shift a week right now. Hopefully that will change soon, I want this one DONE, ASAP! I won't sleep until it's finished, it won't leave me alone.

"Fugitive Dreams" is still in stasis... I won't look at that until this current WIP is finished and goes into its first stasis cycle.

Have a great weekend everyone! Don't forget to get a copy of STRICKEN if you haven't already. Thank you! ♥ ♫

Much love.
